I'M NEW TO CLOTH DIAPERING. WHERE DO I START?
This Youtube page has great videos that we encourage every parent or guardian looking into cloth diapering to watch. We've found that people don't really understand when you try to explain the different systems of cloth diapering without some kind of visual aid. These videos give you an idea of the different systems out there so that you can decide which might work for your family's needs. Not all systems always work for all families. We encourage you to get a few to try and see what best fits your baby's needs.

WHAT WEIGHT RANGE DO YOUR DIAPERS FIT?
Our One-Size diapers fit from about 10-40 lbs. We have newborn diapers in the works that will fill that gap from birth till baby fits in the One-Size diapers.
Our unique double-inserts slide easily into the built in pocket on each diaper. Each insert comes with a couple pairs of snaps on them. These snaps are used to fasten the inserts together in different ways so you can arrange them according to your baby's wetting pattern. They also ensure that the inserts stay in place when your little one is on the move. Try the different snap arragements to see which one works best for your baby's needs.
The pictures below illustrate how the inserts fasten together for a boy/tummy sleeper or girl/back sleeper. Click on each picture to see a larger version.
SANKOFA DIAPERS recommends the following:
* Before the first use of your new diaper and inserts, wash them in warm water (not to exceed 90°F / 32°C).
* Spray or rinse all solid waste off your diaper before storing it in your diaper pail.
* Perform a cold rinse/soak of your diapers and inserts before running a regular wash cycle to remove all remaining waste.
* If using regular laundry detergent, wash diapers and inserts in warm water (90°F / 32°C) using 1/3 of the manufacturer recommended amount of laundry detergent to prevent possible water-repellency.
* You may wish to perform an extra rinse cycle to remove excess laundry detergent from your diapers and inserts. This will help to prevent skin irritation and ammonia buildup from occurring.
* Always dry diapers on low heat or hang-dry (preferred).
WHAT PRODUCTS SHOULDN'T I USE WITH MY DIAPERS?
* Bleach — sunning the inner layer of your diapers is a great alternative, even in the winter months.
* Fabric softeners — this will cause your diaper to repel your baby’s urine.
* Detergents that contain artificial dyes or perfumes.
* Diaper rash cream — If you have to, be sure to place a diaper liner in your diaper before applying cream.
* Reuse the same diaper more than once between washes.
For a better fit, be sure to adjust the rise snaps to fit your baby. This will help to prevent leaks and messes.
DO YOUR DIAPERS CONTAIN ANY HARMFUL CHEMICALS?
No. All our diapers have been tested by a CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) approved testing lab in Utah and are in compliance with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA).

WHAT METHOD OF PAYMENTS DO YOU TAKE?
At the moment, we take PAYPAL as our primary form of payment. We are working on accepting major credit cards right on our website. For our customers that do not have PAYPAL, they can pay with their debit/credit cards by paying as a guest when they are directed to Paypal, which processes all payments with no fee to you. All your information is also kept secure since they are a financial institution.
For those that are local to Salt Lake City that will like to pay cash or bring a chasiers check or money order, just send us a message or give us a call at 801-613-0714 and we can work something out. If you want to use a card to pay, we have card reader we can use as well.
DO I HAVE TO PAY SALES TAX?
As of now, only residents of Utah have to pay sales tax of 6.85%. Residents of other states do not have to pay sales taxes. They are however, encouraged to pay use tax on the items they buy out of state for use in their state.
HOW DO I GET A WHOLESALE ACCOUNT?
For customers who wish to order in bulk, you may request a wholesale account from your account page after you've created your regular account. Please provide all required information and we will process your application from there. You can also send us an email at for faster processing.
WHERE IS SANKOFA DIAPERS LOCATED?
We are located in Salt Lake CIty, Utah. Locals are welcome to do pick-ups.
